After the storm made landfall Luby's quickly began re-opening stores. In many areas affected by the storm, Luby's was the first restaurant open, providing those in need with hot food and shelter.

Luby's also provided aid during the Hurricane evacuation process, including re-opening a closed location in Burleson, Texas, to assist official coping with the massive evacuation effort during the days preceding and following the hurricane's landfall. The Company made the store's facilities available for officials and emergency personnel, and provided an air-conditioned rest stop for the general public traveling on crowded highways. In Orange, Texas, FEMA and the Red Cross set up camp for six weeks at another closed cafeteria, using the Luby's parking lot as a headquarters to pass out relief checks and bring mobile homes and restrooms for evacuees' use.

Luby's believes it is our civic obligation and duty to provide service and give back to our communities especially in times of need.
